Among the most special duas you can supplicate to Allah with are those that are found in the Quran. Some of them were phrased by Allah (swt), sometimes as an order to the Prophet (sa). Others were quotes from pious people of the past, including prophets and messengers, which Allah (swt) honoured by placing them in the Quran.

Here are a few of these special duas that are found in the Quran, and a bit about their context

Dua of Adam (as)

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” (Quran, 7:23)

This dua was said by Adam (as) after Shaytan finally succeeded in making him eat from the forbidden tree. In fact, it was Allah who taught Adam the words of this special supplication for forgiveness.

Dua of Jesus’s Disciples

رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنزَلْتَ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ

“Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger [Jesus], so register us among the witnesses [to truth].” (Quran, 3:53)

These were words said by those handful of special people who became disciples of Prophet Jesus (as).

Dua of the Ulul Albab

رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ ❋ رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ جَامِعُ النَّاسِ لِيَوْمٍ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ

“Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower. Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise.” (Quran, 3:8-9)

This is the supplication of a special group of people whom Allah calls the ‘Ulul Albab’ or ‘the People of Intellect.’ These people have a clear insight and can correctly understand what they see and hear around them. All they need is to look at the creation, the heavens and the earth in order to come to the realisation that Allah didn’t create them in vain.

Dua of Asiya

رَبِّ ابْنِ لِي عِندَكَ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِي … مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

“My Lord, build for me near You a house in Paradise … and save me from the wrongdoing people.” [Quran, 66:11]

This supplication was said by Asiya (as), the wife of Firawn, probably the worst man who ever walked the earth. Despite all odds, she kept up her belief to such an extent that the Prophet (sa) said she is one of the best women in the world.

Other Duas

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

“Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.” (Quran, 3:147)

Allah (swt) mentioned this dua in the Quran as the supplication of those religious scholars who fought alongside prophets in the past. He says:

“And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast.” (3:146)

آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ كُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّن رُّسُلِهِ ۚ وَقَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ ❋لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۚ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ ۗ رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ ۖ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا ۚ أَنتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ❋

“The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.” Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. ‘Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.’” (Quran, 2:285-286)

This is a special supplication that appears at the end of Surat al-Baqarah. These two ayat are so special that, whilst all other ayat of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet while he was on the earth, these two were revealed to him whilst he was in up above.
